Our Dominic ... Life can change in a second... We know this all too well

I guess I don't know how to start this post or describe what I'm about to share but Aric & I felt strongly about bringing more awareness of what we are going through with our youngest child, Dominic & what will continue to be a lifelong journey. We are going to stand for sharing, being vulnerable, being real, & saying life sure has some curve balls but we are facing them. We are facing them as a family & rallying around Dominic. As some have questioned, we are changing our routines, habits, priorities, and activities. huh!?! Well we had some devastating news that developed a little over 3 weeks ago that our son has Legg Calve Perthes Disease a rare hip disorder in his left hip  (essentially a collapsed hip) bringing us to a complete halt as we knew it. He is 2 1/2 yrs old and how could this happen. As rare as it is 5 in 100,000 kiddos, our boy Dominic will face this disease & we won't hesitate to do what it takes to ensure he has every opportunity to live a normal life but the road might be long, hard, & painful to get there. As we struggle with one boy out of 4 not being able to do like the others, give us grace, pray for us, pray for our marriage, pray that Satan stands behind us & we march forward in the glory that God has given us here on earth & that though the things of this world might not make sense that we believe that God is still so good. I'll leave everyone with a little info since we were new to this too but Dominic's jump off the couch & bad limp led us to Gillette.

(Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease is when the ball of the thighbone doesn't get enough blood causing the bone to die. The goals of treatment are to decrease pain, reduce the loss of hip motion, and prevent or minimize permanent femoral head deformity so that the risk of developing a severe degenerative arthritis as adult can be reduced.)

There will be good & bad days. The good days I feel as if it's all gone & then he is up all night in pain because he over did it keeping up with the other boys & can't walk normal the next day or holding on to things to get around & sometimes to resorting to just resting on the couch with his toys next to him. We cry, pray, and hold him through this and repeat. May Gods grace, mercy & healing surround Dominic & our family.

For those of you who know Dominic, he has the sweetest & most joyful spirit. He is the one at the race track with the pacifier hanging out of his mouth glue to his daddy's side at the starting gate & playing in the dirt or sitting on his daddy's shoulders. He is the first one to always give up a toy. He is the one that gets along with everyone. He is the one making the funny faces & our jokester. He is our most musically inclined singing on pinch & dancing to the beat. We often said he was the hardest at times too because he wanted us to hold him so much. Little did we know that he was struggling to keep up. We now know he was listening to his body & couldn't physically go further or was in pain. :(:(:(

May Gods grace, mercy & healing surround Dominic. We believe in miracles. And if there is a chance of a miracle or us being able to take this away, we pray God's will be done.
