Hide and Seek

34

It's that time of year when we transition from the summer activities to the fall indoor fun.  The twins new game is hide and seek. Not that we didn't play before but its becoming a favorite for them & an enjoyable game for me as I see their smiles and giggles as I walk pass them & "happen not to see them". Their feet hanging out or their heads poking out looking for me cause counting to 10 is too long for them lol. Now that we have more than one body hiding it becomes more interesting. Yes I show them good hiding spaces which they are thrilled to hide there 5 times or more in a row and each moment I find them still brings out laughter, squeals, & excitement. Yea its a head game, mama has to be all in, her game face on, her surprise face ready & all distractions subsided. This is true hide and seek. Connecting. Laughing. Suspense..... Yes they know where mama is hiding because...

A. They skip counting from 1 to 10
B. They were peeking the whole time
C. They tell me where I should hide
D. Mama's legs tend to stick out.

What strategy!! Brilliant!!

Now at 2 -3 yrs old they know to pretend not to find me at first & check other places. Who's the parent?!? Why ...they are much smarter than we think but enjoy the game & the connection just as much as I do.

On a more serious note, I know there are tons of things we would love to hide from in life. Life can get so complicated but as simple as hide & seek, we were known all along. It was up to us to reveal & face what we were hiding from good & bad. It again sounds so simple but just as a simple as a game of hide & seek we pretend to keep it going for the sake of playing & connecting. But maybe its time we are done hiding in life... rather we shift our focus on seeking the one we should have been seeking all along in plain view. His toes weren't just sticking out... His Whole Being has been in our vision & the eye connection was missed with all the hiding & ducking under blankets we habitually do....but HE is so ready to walk with us, carry us if needed, and quickly embrace us when we hit that bump as we decide to stand up & hit our heads on the piano or the book shelve we were hiding behind or grasp us as we slip around the sharp corner into the kitchen.  Our Higher Power, Our Savior, Our Friend, Our Father, Our Companion, Our Tour Guide is ready to find us and bring us into the light to mold us into his image and walk us through this thing called Life. I don't know about you but I'm ready.... as much as I love hide & seek....There is something greater to seeking more out of life.
