As I started picking up the toys to a demolished car track, I found the one anchor that held up the middle of the track was the brace that was suppose to be supporting the pool table! I was in shock that it was removed from pool table but even more fascinated why my 8 yr old used this or thought about using this for his car track. Obviously he knew he needed support and a foundation, but did not think through removing the foundation of one object to support another. I quickly put the brace back where it belonged....how often do you & I not see that we are substituting anchors in our life? or not securing our anchors? or associating certain anchors with an experience? I don't know about you but I don't want to be drifting aimlessly in life being blown and tossed by every wind or storm that comes my way because it's not if ...it's when the storms happen. I want to be secure, rooted, and know that I can withstand life's storm and that I've secured into place anchors that will bring me hope, love, joy, and peace. So lets take hold and look onward toward life's beauty, calm seas, and sunshine just along the horizon and allow newness, tranquility, and peace to infiltrate our souls.
Chew on this....
"An anchor is a device, normally made of metal, used to connect a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current"
"we can become accidentally anchored to experiences, so that something neutral - a sound, a picture, a touch - can become linked to that experience. The anchor then evokes the emotions, thoughts or states linked to it."
"By using anchors we can deliberately bring experiences under conscious control and bring them out whenever we wish. For example, if we need confidence on a certain occasion in the future, we can make an anchor to give us that confidence when we need it."
Tim Shurr - "Imagine being able to immediately feel more confident, motivated, calm, focused,
energized, and/or creative whenever you wish. Getting yourself into the right “state of mind” is easy
when you have the feelings to support it."
"With repeated practice, you can create Anchors that last a lifetime. I anchored a feeling of enthusiasm
and certainty years ago, and to this day, whenever I take the stage at a Shurr ! Success seminar, I fire
off that anchor to get into state-and it works every time!
So imagine the possibilities before you. You can anchor and trigger feelings of love and wanting to
serve just before picking up the phone to prospect. You can stimulate feelings of charisma and
magnetism just prior to entering a networking function. You can feel relaxed and in control as you ask
for the close. And you can feel playful and fun with your kids, even after the longest of days…"
Quite interesting.......
