The Wake Up Call

34
It Could Happen to Anyone.....

I write this post in all seriousness. A true wake up call for me & my routine.  Yesterday morning was Halloween costume dress up day at school. Christian decided to wear his dirt bike gear instead of his skin costume. So in the midst of a normal but crazy routine, he said he was going out to the bus stop which is diagonally from us at the house right across the street & totally normal! I said ok- hugs & kisses have a great day! As he was walking out - hubby was going to go two minutes away to drop off twins at daycare & come back. Easton was home sick.  So as I was tending to Easton & Aric was dropping off the twins, Christian was standing at the bus stop. This was only minutes. Aric drives back up & stops to talk to Christian who is still waiting for the bus & Christian states "oh I just talked to one of your friends." What?!? A guy -who knows if we know him or not - besides the point but very very odd & scary to me that this person would pull up to a bus stop, ask him if Aric is his dad & say they are friends. Also he ask if Christian rides dirt bike (duh Christian was wearing the gear & any who knows us knows he races),  Christian said yes & the guy said he used to ride when he was little & had a couple videos of Ryan Dungey on his phone. So he proceeded to show Christian a under 1 minute video through the car window.  !!!OMG!!! SIRENS IN MY HEAD!!! RED FLAG (freaking out in my head as I hear this)....oh my goodness this is the part when the child gets into the car to watch the video and he drives off. Luckily that was not the case but HUGE GINORMOUS EYE OPENER TO US.....Hubby & I immediately changed our routine. The stranger talk now will be on repeat we haven't spoken about it lately. We were so naive to think he just knows better he is 8 but fact is he does know it just that these situations look so friendly at first and end up so so bad. Parents, Grandparents, Sitters, Aunts, Uncles.... if anything double check your routines, have the conversation of the person posing to be a friend or mom/dads friend, etc. It will be worth it! We don't always get 2nd chances....This is Real Life... ****HUGS****
